Indiana University School of Journalism

The Indiana Daily Student is an independent newspaper serving the campus at Indiana University. It is what The Red & Black is to UGA. I checked out their multimedia and found a video entitled "People are still having sex' dance party". It's about 4 minutes long, not too journalistic (no narrative, no real point), but it's definitely interesting. Check it out.

It seemed more like a music video than journalism, yet I feel Indiana is considered one of the best journalism schools in the country and for college stuff I think it's a cool idea. Sometimes I feel The Red & Black is too serious and tries to cover news as if it were a true professional paper. I like this content as it connects more with the students.

I think this is a vast improvement from the "run of the wiener's" piece from a "professional newspaper". I think that if there were some explanation of the video and why exactly it's titled "People are still having sex" (was that the reason people came to dance and celebrate - because people are still having sex? Or are people still having sex because they're dancing...or is the song called "people are still having sex" - this needs to be spelled out and clarified) then it would definitely been journalism to me; I, and I'm pretty sure all viewers, am left with too many questions after watching this. I want to know more about it.
This is a very good video though, with awesome stills. If only, if only....

The fast sequence of dancing photos was cool, but only the first time, not the fifth or sixth. This is not journalism, there is no content, there is no story, there are the same photos over and over again. This is basically 4 or 5 photos taken from slightly different angles strung together with music that is not credited. Ultimately someone wanted to show off and be a photographer and not a journalist.
