Allentown, Penn., Morning Call reorganizes

According to a memo posted on Poynter, it's a major upheaval, similar to what Gannett has been doing. Note this part:

"Reorganizing some functions within the visuals department to better support digital initiatives, including investment in more than 40 video cameras to be deployed this month in the newsroom."

It's nice to see that at least one paper out there is recognizing the growing importance of adopting new and more effective methods for providing news and information to the public. I'll admit that I have never been an avid newspaper reader. I've tried and tried again, but in today's technology-driven society, I find it next to impossible to deny the ease and convenience of using the web to get my news fix. With more and more individuals shifting everyday from traditional newspapers to other means of getting their daily news, whether via television, the Internet, or their cell phones, news providers can no longer afford to simply sit back and relax knowing that their long-established methods of delivering the news will continue to remain effective within the coming years. If they hope to increase, or even simply maintain, their readership in the near future, they must come to realization that change is inherent in this day and age. Those select few who jump on the technology bandwagon now will surely be rewarded further on down the road, and those who hesitate to do so will find themselves and their service in little or no demand...
